Einhart Leaves Ojai Valley News
Walter A. Einhart Jr. has left his position as publisher-editor of the Ojai Valley News effective Thursday. For now, owner Bill Buchanan will be acting as interim publisher.
“As we go forward, we do not anticipate this change affecting our readers or advertisers. Our role is to properly cover our community as to news, commentary and advertising information, and we will work hard to fulfill that important responsibility,” Buchanan said, adding he plans to become involved in the day-to-day operation of the newspaper.
Buchanan may be reached at 646-1476, Ext. 220, or at publisher@

Why was he let go? Failure to show up for work? I wonder if it was just one day or many days.
“Is it not a bit ironic that the very entity that is supposed to report news chooses to cover up the truth?”
No.
Is it not a bit ironic that the very entity that is supposed to report news chooses to cover up the truth?
we have nothing better to do than speculate when the truth is deliberately hidden from us. please, CP, enlighten us, give us a clue!
It’s truly incredible how much people talk while knowing absoloutely nothing about the situation. Ignorance is bliss I guess.
Republicans are snobs too.
Daryl Kelly was the best writer the OVN had.
I love the paper, especially now that the Kelly woman doesn’t write for them anymore. Couldn’t understand anything she wrote yet they let her have a column for a long time.
Actually, I really like the paper and want it to continue. I admit hypocrisy bothers me. Sorry.
Sorry, all it is and will continue to be, is saving the owner the all mighty dollar. Look at the past talent they got rid of, (and the ones who left on there own accord due to CHEAP wages while doing multiple jobs!) Where is Daryl Kelly? Sondra Murphy? Nancy Gross? How many more are next to get kicked in the teeth by the “Local” paper?
“scuze me”, ok you want to slander Einhart and say he can’t spell, and if that does not work you go with cheating on the wife. Maybe that was the old editor, but certainly not a crime either way. So what is it? personal vendetta?
With the invasion from L.A., there are plenty of goats to be roped.
You, Anon 6, can return to L.A.’s teat for a suckle.
go back to ropin’ goats Anon. 5
There’s gotta be a Hollywood C Lister out there that will lead this paper to the promised land. After all, the “elite” put its faith in Hollywood.
“If you build it, they will come.” That was the mantra for bowl raze and rebuild. Who are “they” and why do we want them here?
Wake up Ojai, this town is being infested with maggoty L.A. trash.
never mind they were selling Einhart as a family man while he had a girlfriend and was getting a divorce
Anon 5:53am, you have it exactly right. Mr. Einhart was not pro-drinking and as was mentioned before Ojai has become a big drinking and drugging town. Mr. Einhart spoke up and he got fired.
Scuze me, “man on the scene,” but Einhart got his post and Bradigan was fired at the hands of the rich Republicans of this town (Kemper, et al). No one, left or right, wants an illiterate running a newspaper!
if the parents of that degenerate (trust me I know I rode on her bus when I was younger) are so distressed over hearing about her… why did you bring it up again?!
I disliked the nasty editorial he wrote about the bus driver who had been drinking——long after the issue had been well reported, only causing more distress for her parents who are fine long-time residents
What happened? Did the rich snobs (Democrats of Ojai)
kick him out? They run this town. I think we should
congratulate Einhart for putting up with that crap as
long as he did. When does award season (self-congratulatory Democrats) begin? Maybe he should of stuck around a little bit longer so he could hand out the prizes and ingratiate himself with these “limousine”
liberals?
“when we dont do as we are told we are silenced” ????
What kind of message is that sending? That we should all be followers who never challenge opposition, or attempt to try something new. Ojai is not the kind of place that promotes this kind of narrow-minded thinking and ignorance. Ojai is an accepeting commuinty that should encourage and embrace differences.
Also, people really should get their facts straight before making false assumptions about something they obviously know nothing about.
Let’s hope our next publisher-editor can write, spell and punctuate. If the youngsters of Ojai can read, and occasionally look at the local newspaper, they should not be subjected to semi-literacy in print.
Perhaps Mr. Einhart was a little to much of a family values man. Ojai/LA would rather embrace the drinking, pot smoking, and wine bar scene that now seems to dominate the Ojai culture. And you wonder why our kids are all on drugs and liquor. Look no further then the home where all of this starts with the parents.
he couldn’t write
“when we dont do as we are told we are silenced”
Do as we’re told? As in…SHOW UP FOR WORK?!
(Ah, yet another oppressive, authoritarian, anti-personal freedom scheme being promulgated by The Man. Boo, grr, hiss to The Man. What nerve. We don’t need to show up for no stinking work.)
when we dont do as we are told we are silenced
Another one bites the dust! Hopefully the next editor will know how to spell and edit…Then again we shouldn’t put so much pressure on the OVN
Is the same Bill Buchanan that ran CTU?
