Accused murderer Alex Medina does not have a trial date set, but he does have a new address.
Medina, who was arrested in 2009 for allegedly stabbing and killing 16-year-old Seth Scarminach at a Meiners Oaks party, was transferred Monday from the county’s juvenile detention facility to the main jail. He was 14 at the time of the murder but turned 18 Dec. 16.
Medina’s defense team, Robyn Bramson and Scott Wippert, tried to keep their client in the juvenile center but were unsuccessful.
“There are liability and safety concerns keeping an adult with juveniles,” said Chrystina Jenson, senior deputy district attorney. “Medina should not to be treated special.”
A trial date will likely not be set until March.
